Read about industry knowledge
I’m excited to share insights and experiences from over 10 years working in the landscape construction and architecture industry in Toronto and across Ontario.
Throughout my career, I’ve worked hands-on in gardening, maintenance, and construction, as well as on designing large-scale commercial projects like parks, playgrounds, and restoration efforts. I’ve also designed and implemented high-end residential landscapes, so I’ve seen every side of the industry.
I chose to work in the landscape industry out of a love for nature, outdoor spaces, and working with plants. I believe it is both possible and essential for human influence on the landscape to be beneficial to the ecosystem. Landscape practices should reflect a paradigm of harmony between human activity and ecological health.
My intention is to share practical, on-the-ground insights into how to create and sustain the landscapes of our future. I cover topics ranging from the science behind the importance of native and pollinator plants, to selecting construction materials that are genuinely responsible rather than greenwashed, to the entrenched aesthetic preferences that hinder the adoption of new practices. My goal is to give readers a sense of the possibilities for their own gardens and outdoor spaces, and to offer guidance on creating beautiful, functional, and sustainable landscapes.
